J: Lovely drive yesterday down the west coast of the Coromandel. Right next to the beach for much of it. Sunny. Stopped for the view and a cofee and found the amazing flowering NZ Christmas trees again - they're huge and have bright red flowers.
Interestingly we caught a glimpse of Waiheke island where we'd stayed three weeks ago - so we've travelled full circle around the two islands.
Today - Monday we pottered this morning - bought a little cabin-sized case on wheels for all the presents! Don't get too excited, they're quite small for each person! * (could have been going out into the harbour at this point.) Then went to the Maritime museum which is large and amazing - supposed to be one of the best in the world. There was a mocked up ship's cabin that actually moved as if afloat.
*We didn't get to go on the Americas Cup 2hr trip - it was moved to 11am instead of 1pm and they couldn't contact us. Given our evening meal free and a total refund.
Tonight we went up the Sky tower to see the view as all the light came on which was really good. I coped with the lift ok and Wedg coped with the height - even when I dragged him up to the upper viewing deck. Good photos of the tower from below too.
Tomorrow we fly to Dubai at lunchtime. See you there...
