The Day the 23 Aussie Squad took the InternatiionalRules Football Cup Home
The Cormac McAnallen Trophy
We started the day with a walked to theTemple Bar Food market, we were lucky to have a sunny-rain-less day after yesterday's miserable weather. The coffee was the best since the Borough Markets in London. Why's that? There must be a business opportunity here. Tried there Irish Coffee last night, and I must say we do it better back in Sydney. The food at the market however was delicious we tasted we bought and we looked around. Love the cheese, and we bought almond with figs, it looked like a compressed cake which accompanied the cheese well. Nicole bought "TurnStone" South African cabernet sauvignon, for 6Euro, it was brilliant. We ate venison sausages, duck pie (nice), local Irish cheese starting with "K" from "Sheridan's" Cheesemongers. Yum! Local bead and fresh fruit. There was food at the market that I have not seen since Babbie stopped making Russian-style dishes. Didn't realise how much I have missed it. That really brought back memories. Checked out The Temple Bar Pub; 160 years old; live Irish music and renowned for the largest collection of Irish Whisky and well known for their oyster bar. It's popular and the locals are really friendly. "Take our picture won't you?" So there are strangers in my picture gallery in the Temple Bar.
We took photos of Molly Malone's statue with "Little Irish Person". Very Green! Actually Dublin isn't very green at all, you have to pay to have your recycled items picked up. Nicole has to pay 3 Euro for every household waste garbage bag, there are no bins supplied and house hold garbage is picked up twice a week. Different.
Tonight we went to see International Rules Football, which is a mix of Aussie Rules and Gaelic football, Australia V's Ireland…what a hoot and it's the night before Halloween, so tonight no one is intending to sleep.
The night only got better with Australia winning the football 55 to Ireland's 52. Sixty thousand audience viewing and a whole lot of unhappy Irish. Winners are grinners. "Come on Ozzie come on, come on, come on Ozzie come on". We waved the flag and wore the tattoos. Keith jumped for joy and pulled alot of one-liners to stir the locals. Dangerous.
Headed off to O'Reilley's for a Guinness and checked out the Halloween outfits. There were a lot of people in costume, fun. T'was a good day and night out again, thanks to Nicole and Robin, great organisers.

Carla It sounds great. Sorry we'll be missing Halloween. The market was awesome and it sounds like the "football" game was great as well. It's probably good that Bob wasn't there, between him and Keith there might have been a riot. Robin and Niki are great organizers and we miss them both. Can't wait to see your pictures after you leave Dublin. Take care. Bob and Carla
