Leaving Dublin ...soon...so soon..too soon.
In a few days we leave Dublin and depart for Wales. It was time to get serious and do the tourist stuff. We visited the Guinness Storehouse (brewery) learning about the history and manufacture of Guinness and researched the area to ascertain which pub has the best Guinness. Whilst doing this I pondered on the question, "what is the plural of Guinness ?" "Is it Guinnei, it can't be Guinnessess or Guinness's can it ?"
Some more shopping, some quality time with Nicole and Robin and it was nearing time to go. Sadly.
I (Keith) was due to leave a day earlier (Saturday) to visit the Warley Model Train Exhibition at Birmingham and the RAF Museum about an hour from Birmingham. Much preparation was put into place organising accommodation, flight etc. The flight leaving Dublin airport at 6:30 hrs. Up bright and early and departure for the airport at 04:30. Lined up at the check in and then to find Birmingham airport was closed due to an incident with an aircraft the previous day. A small jet carrying a liver transplant had crashed. Fortunately no fatalities and the transplant was OK. I returned back to the flat much to Janette's surprise (at 5:30am) and went back to bed. None of us got up until 11am. Another early start. I (the mumma) went off shopping with Nicole (a mother and daughter half day). We will be looking forward to having time with them together at Christmas.
Every cloud had a silver lining so remaining in Dublin had to have some benefits. Janette and Nicole had arranged some time together so I relaxed. Rob and I went to Mulligan's, which was the finalists in the best pub for Guinness competition and watched New Zealand demolish Ireland in the R.U. Rob and I meet up with Janette and Nicole for an evening meal at The Green Hen. A day with a disappointing start but a very pleasant end.
Leaving is always so gut wrenching, thank goodness for Skype it keeps me sane, much easier to keep in contact. They have a good life travelling and working. It's different, it's challenging and each day brings new knowledge. We miss them.
