We spent 6 nights on Koh Phangan - 3 at Thong Nai Pan and another 3 at bottle beach. Both resorts were really lovely and were situated in the north of the island away from the noise of Haad Rin (where the full moon party is held). Both of the places we stayed had swimming pools and were right on the beach front so we didn't have to go far for a quick dip to cool off.
The first excursion we did was a snorkelling tour around the island by long tail boat. It was amazing! We couldn't believe how many fish there were and how close they swam to us, they were completely unfazed by our presence.
The second excursion we did was a safari tour of the island. We really enjoyed this tour as it allowed us to explore more of the island. The first stop was the Chinese temple where we rubbed the belly of the laughing Buddha for good luck. We then hiked up to a waterfall and viewpoint where there was a spectacular view of the island and the Ang Thong Marine Park. The most enjoyable part of the tour was seeing the elephants. We went trekking through the forest and the elephant picked us up with it's trunk.
We couldn't visit Koh Phangan without experiencing the infamous full moon party. Well it was definitely an experience and not one we would want to repeat. We arrived at the party completely drenched after a 40 minute long boat taxi ride in a tropical storm! Not fun. The party was made up of about 12 bars on the beach playing dance music and selling buckets of alcohol with a whole bottle of whisky in!! Along the beach they had skipping ropes which they had set on fire that people were trying to jump over and were getting burnt in the process. Can't say we enjoyed it that much but we were glad to have seen it for ourselves.
Apart from the full moon party we really enjoyed Koh Phangan and all that the island had to offer.
