After a month relaxing on the beaches of Southern Thailand it was time to move on and visit two of the best skylines in the world - at Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.
KL was like two cities in one, the old city comprised of the markets of Little India and Chinatown, and the new city, comprised of KLCC and the truely spectacular Petronas Towers. The huge shopping mall at KLCC was the biggest and best we've ever seen. The view from the top of the KL Tower was incredible; as we looked out we could even see our hotel. On one morning to avoid the city heat for a couple of hours we went to an aquarium; where we saw sharks and turtles amongst other sealife. We then took a train down to Singapore.
Singapore is such an expensive city for accommodation, food and drink, especially when compared to Thailand. Our tiny hotel room was located near the Raffles Hotel. Amongst the many things we were able to do in this great city was to take a cable car over to Sentosa Island, where we visited the Images of Singapore Museum that explained the history and many cultures of Singapore. We also went to a Dali exhibition at an art gallery, took a walk around Chinatown and visited the shopping district at Orchard Road. One evening we had a meal at a Chinese all you can eat buffet, with a difference. The difference was all the food was raw so you had to cook the food yourself at your table; we made some of the locals laugh with our confusion... On our last day we met Stuart at the airport, then went to the Singapore Flyer (a huge observation wheel like the London Eye) where we admired the amazing views of the city skyline and the grand prix F1 track.
