It's about 10.30am. David is already at the house so we head downtown to the Gaslamp Quarter. Get a bite to eat at Nicky Rottens - Beef Tacos. Get some shopping done and exchange funny stories.

Then we head over to Balboa Park, with it's impressive gardens, huge zoo and detailed architecture. People getting married and others just hanging put. You get drawn into it's laid-back atmosphere and welcoming tone. So much so I go rock out with two hippies in with their violin and guitar!

Afterwards we head to the La Jolla beach, it's very busy. Families with their children running riot. Lots of people kayaking and surfing. David then shows me his old football team pitch and clubhouse, up in the hills looking over the sea, pretty impressive.

By the time we get back it's 5.30pm, Barbara comes in about 30mins later pretty chilled, Paul a half hour after that running around getting his stuff together frantically! The snakes get their dinner - a live rat each!

By 7.30pm we are hitting the road Jack. Over to Tucson, Arizona. Arriving at 1am. Talking family, food, bikes and cricket!
