We left Vegas today and headed for our next stop - Yosemite, 325 miles away....

The route takes us through the desert, cactus everywhere, houses nowhere to be seen. We drove alongside Death Valley. Stopping off in a town called Beatty, which had the widest selection of sweets I have ever seen!

We get back on the road and head pass some towns in the middle of nowhere Dyer and Oasis overlooked by the White Mountains range, still snowcapped. Then we cross the border to Benton, California. We stop for gas and somehow bump into a young English couple from Hertfordshire. They have just been to Yosemite and are heading for Vegas. After exchanging conversation we take a very undulated road through to Lee Vining. By now the landscape has changed from desert to green trees climbing over mountains.

Lee Vining is situated on the outskirts of Yosemite, next to the mono lake. The hotel we stay at is cool and it has wifi so I can catch up on sport and catch up with people. I end up sending India tons of photos of the trip!
