The change of plan today worked out really well. The town of Murphys was a cool little place. An old mining town with eclectic shops and a friendly vibe.
We had lunch at Murphys hotel. The bar was full of taxidermy and the biggest elk head and horns I had seen all trip! And half a dozen other heads!
Then we looked around the shops including a Native Indian shop from which I bought a bundle of sage. Then we went to the Murphys Motorcycle Company I got a top and Paul picked up his usual shot glass.
Then we went to Moaning Caverns, which holds the largest vertical chamber in a public cavern that you can see in California. In fact, it's so big, it could hold the entire Statue of Liberty! It had huge stalagmites and stalactites and a iron staircase from which we could travel down to the bottom.
We then headed down to Groveland to stay at the Groveland Motel. The small town was close to Yosemite and was home to the oldest iron door bar. After going inside I saw even more taxidermy!!
We had Pizza for dinner and then headed back for an early night.
