Ok, I have eaten, showered and slept for a couple of hours.
Today was amazing, but I do not think I will ever be able to fully describe what we have been through.
The first 40km were as tough as ever, but bear in mind that each leg of the journey has got harder as the pain has got worse.
Yes, it was hot and very hilly! The hills here are so steep and go on for miles (not being metaphorical there, they really do)
The last two legs were great. The penultimate one was 12k downhill, with views of the lake. Tears flowed, and emotion was high - seeing the end in sight.
After that we regrouped, the police and our support ce holes then led us the last 5k onto the city.
We had balloons tied to our bikes, and the streets were lined with hundreds and hundreds of locals, cheering and screaming and clapping us on. We travelled slowly, so we could alll arrive together - a group of women all united as one, none faster or slower than the rest.
It was beautiful, truly beautiful, all cycling as one, balloons, bells, laughter, cheers and teats filled the air. You had to be there, but trust me, spirits soared!
We arrived at the finish line, to music, dance and champagne, more tears and so many hugs, long lingering hugs, just holding one another as we laughed and cried.
That was it, we had lunch, then slept.
Tomorrow we all have a day to recover, then we will go to Nakuru for the penultimate day and after that onto Naorobi.
I don't know how I feel now, I am in a whole world of pain, and inside - well that is rather mixed. Pride, sadness that it's over, relief, so many things, but all beneath a vail of total exhaustion.
Tonight we celebrate!
Not too sure if I will get Internet again until I get home, so if not let me just say to everyone a huge thank you for all your wonderful messages.
Many times we have all felt the desire to quit - the heat and pain being too much at times, but thinking of all you lot at home helped me a lot.
6B - an extra big thank you to you all, I can't wait to see you when I get back xxxx
