Yeaah.. I just couldn't stay away.
Wapu picked me up from Brisbane and the ride down to Ballina was awesome. We had a good laugh! I stayed at wapu's friends house for the night and he drove me up to Byron the next day. I had to crash at a hostel for two nights because I didnt have my own room yet. It was ok though.. The receptionist guy was so nice that he took me in even though they didnt have room. I slept on a mattress in a corner, a cozy corner !!
I swore I wouldn't get on the piss again, but oh my what happened AGAIN, when I made new friends.. I finally made it to Cheeky Monkeys ( and made a lovely entry by falling down some stairs - no...wasnt too pissed) and got on the dance floor. The dance floor actually is just rooted tables and benches. Some guy was showing his skills on the stage and suddenly I got called on stage. I was nervous, I didnt want to have to take part in a wet t-shirt competition or anything like that! Oh well, wasn't as bad as I expected. We had a small competition, involving whipped cream, between three girls (incl.me) and three guys. I won, and man what I won. Got a trip to Noosa for canoeing 3 days and 2 nights, also a self drive safari trip to Frasier Island for 3 days and 2 nights, and accommodation for 2 nights in Hervey Bay. Together all of that is worth around $300!! How cool is that!!
Things started to get even better. I got a room in Byron - only for $125 per week! And I bought a bike aswell, for $60! I can sell it when I leave. It's a warrior. Takes me around Byron like I'd be flying. I have just settled down in my new appartment, its alright, I just think I have to get used to my flatmates. Weeiiirdoooes.
I went surfing the other day and it's unbelievable how big the waves can be! I just got through one normal sized wave, maybe like 1-2meters.. Then I open my eyes and I see this HUGE wall coming towards me, it was a wave at least 5 meters tall and was about crash straight on me. All I said to myself was: Oh.. shait. Get off the board. NOW! I was under water for quite some time, probably not as long as my swedish friend who was spinning under the wave for 20 seconds. When everyone got on the surface again we laughed. There was nothing else you could do but laugh. We were lucky I guess.
Wapu is letting me borrow his board he shaped out. Earlier he said he'd give it to me, but I cant accept that. I will borrow it and learn tricks he can teach me. After all, he is a surf instructor, how cool is that! We get along really well, I joined him to drive up to Brisbane to take the surf campers back. He let me steer the bus a bit, I was nervous, but so excited! And then I joined him for the trip to Nimbin. Hahaha, we had such a crack, it was crazy. I got on the piss that day and got a free feed. How good is that!
I guess today is a chilled out day. I was supposed to work out in the morning, but I didnt find the path that leads to our nearest beach .... maybe tomorrow? I guess tomorrow is full of surfing if I get the board today. Cant wait!! But now, Im off to get my tickets for the Bluesfest. Cant wait for that either!! Take care darls and keep on commenting, I love to read comments and short news from home.
Love,
Apples
ps. The weirdest thing happened. I bumped into a guy I sent a message to a few weeks ago, asking to go surf with him! We never met, because somehow the messages didnt go through. Suddenly he was there, talking to me, out of the blue and without any arrangements! Cool.
