Unfortunately, when we got to Saint George, the river cruise wasn't running so we had to make do with other experiences. Brett and I went for a ride around the town in a 99 year old Model T Ford. We woke early in Nindigully to watch the sun rise. After breakfast we went for a walk along the Moonie River and crossed at the weir to explore the other bank. Lots of animal tracks to investigate, as well as an old Chevy which a tree had fallen on. By the time we got back it was after 9am and time to leave for Saint George. We passed many cotton farms on the way. The roads were littered with cotton waste, and there were many irrigation channels running alongsi...

After nearly 2 hours we reached the end of State Route 85 and arrived at Nindigully. We set up camp and had a coffee by the Moonie River. We later headed up to the pub where we had a beer during happy hour which was followed by the famous Road Train Burger . We were unable to complete that mission, and headed off to our beds will full bellies.

We did some shopping in Goondiwindi and then headed to the Botanic Gardens for lunch. The gardens contain only native plants. They are all labelled and it was quite interesting. We walked around the lake in the Gardens, examining the various trees and other labelled shrubs, then headed off to the Nindigully Pub. We had to dodge an echidna who was determined to cross the road. As we travelled, the colour of the soil was changing from white to red.

We left our campsite and headed for Goondiwindi along the Gore Highway. Not a road that we had been on before. We had started to see the kinds of birds that we never see in the city - Apostlebirds and White Winged Choughs. The weather was beautiful. We stopped for a while in Milmerran to look at some of the local sights. The museum looked interesting, but was not open, so we could only look through the fence at some of the outdoor exhibits.
