ok firstly, i would just like to say sorry that we have not been doing the blog more often but we have just been too busy having fun!!
so when i last blogged we had just done the jet boat... and we were getting ready to do the bungy swing the next day... well we lived through the experience despite my worries!!
we were to gather in the info centre in queenstown to await our lift out to the valley were we would knowingly fall off a perfectly good platform.. (is anyone sensing a trend here in the activites that hugh picks) by this point i was getting more and more nervous. but two things continued to go through my head reassuring me that i had to do this. the first was that Jen had told me only the night before that i had to do everything... the second being that we had paid good money for this and we werent going to get that back.
the bus journey out to the valley was in many ways scarier than the jump its self. once we came off the main road our mad man bus driver took us up the hill at a great speed, which would have been ok but for the sheer drop on one side that was VERY high. once we got to the valley we were weighed and taken to the 300m high platform. the swing that we were to do is the highest in the world.. for those of you that want to see the scenery google nevis arc. we stood there and watched one couple get winched in from the drop with the biggest grins that you have ever seen which settled me somewhat.. not only had they survived but they acctually looked happy. this feeling was not to last though. the people that we infront of us in the que were harnessed up and suspended above the valley floor. they had their pictures taken from 2 angles and were then dropped. now if watching the sheer force with which the plummeted wasnt enough to scare me the return of the girl that had just done the swing who was verging on hysterics, crying and desperate to get back to solid land just about pushed me over the edge. but by that point it was just plain old too late to back out. i was harnessed up first and then strapped to an also rather shaken hugh. whilst we bickered over whos fault this entire thing was and who was never speaking to who again, the lady on who we depended on for our saftey danced to the music on the platform. she told us to smile, began to ask if we were ready, but before we could answer we were flying through the air... now when we get a chance to show all of you the skydive video you will see that all though incredible it was not my best thing.. but this free fall was something else all together. i loved every second of it. the veiw was fantastic, watching others bungee from another platform as we swang back and forth.. there is nothing in the world quite like it!! infact so much so that we did a 2nd bungee!!!
after all this adreniline we settled down for our 3 hour drive to te anu were we passed a quite evening before an early start to head for millford sound.
