London, best viewed through the bottom of a pint glass. Just watch out for the wheat beers, some if them are quite strong. It was my first day in London. Kristen and I are staying in Highgate (which is very convenient) at her fiance's parents' place. Having a room to myself was a change and a first for sometime. I was so disorientated that I woke up thinking I was trapped in a cave and had no idea where I was.
There is a lot to see and do in London so I have had to seriously prioritise. Plus ex-pats to catch up with.
We started with London tower complete with instruments of torture, crown jewels, ravens, yeomans and beefeaters. The English didnt have a vast array of torture devices, but the ones they used looked effective enough.
Next stop with lunch with Bridie at an old english pub on fleet street-ye old cheshire. Old (very old), dark and wooden-everything you could want in a pub.
Kristen then gave me the walking tour around some of Lindon's sights including St Paul's cathedral, Trafalgur Sq etc. we meandered our way to Leiscter Square to try our luck for theatre tickets to a West End play on the cheap. It was a Friday night and we wanted to see 'Wicked' as it came highly recommended. We discovered tickets were available and were quoted about £50 each from one place. We then found the official ticketing booth where we obtained tickets in the circle for £22.50 each! Sold! They were the last ones too as the guy next to us could only get tickets for £50 or more. It was an absolute score to get last minute tickets to a Friday night show of Wicked for that price. Although as neither of us expected to get tickets we were not dressed at all for theatre. Oh dear, we had to go shopping. This was when I met Oxford street and Primart.
It was bedlam. I had previous met H&M, Forever 21, Zara etc while in mainland Europe. They were familiar friends now. We both found £10 dresses then shoes, stockings and I had to buy a jacket ( £18).
Wicked was wicked. Every character has a back story and the Wicked witch of the West was no exception. Its a pretty spectacular musical.
