Okay, maybe its best if I have a chaperone from now on. I will be taking applications until the end of the week. I was wondering around last night and of all the gin joints in all the world, I found a crazy one! There were people with 80's haircuts and clothes, but that was mild. There was a leather contingent that scared me! One chick even had a black leather eyepatch. The others had leather patches elsewhere and some metals chains and such. Needless to say, I finished my beer and moved along.
Today was a laid back stroll through town. I took the tram into town. My day pass was $2.80. You can't beat that with a stick. First stop was one of those things that is way over-priced, but you have to do it. I paid to go to the Observation Deck of Rialto Towers. The view was wonderful. You could see for miles and miles. That was the last noteworthy thing I did in Melbourne. The rest of the day was spent in St. Kilda. Its a cool area that was a seaside resort and then some slums and now has its own niche, but mainly on the weekends. During the week, it is a ghost town. Acland Street was a blessing. Its known for the many bakeries that line its sidewalks. I did have to sample for myself and they were quite tasty. They have a Sunday Market on the esplanade, which is nothing to write home about. The people watching that the market makes available is pretty decent though. On the other side of the market is ocean, breezes, and lots of boats. So the walk is a good one. I met Jo, an old Vail friend, at the Esplanade Hotel. Its a really old bar that has wonderful character and being across the street from the market, an excellent view. We had trouble finding seats and people were piling in even as we were leaving. Today was an odd one, I had trouble settling on a meal for lunch and it lasted until about 6 pm. I took off down Fitzroy Street in search a meal, but a great walk is all I got. I took the tram back home and am having a relaxing night of internet and laundry. Whoohoooo!
