Good morning Rome, we go to breaky at 7.30 am as we have a massive 6 hour walking your today, Ciarra will be in the hotel lobby to pick us up at 8.45 am. We leave to make our way to one of the famous monuments in the main square & just behind it is one of the most sites in the world - The Colloseum.. To look at it life is amazing , it's huge & to think that there was so much fighting torture & killing at this famous landmark & it was all in the name of entertainment ... The line is massive so Ciarra speaks in Italian to the people on the gates & they lead us to a window where we once again get priority as we have an Italian tour guide. Thank the lord for having a guide otherwise we would have been lining up for 2 hours in the heat.......she leads us to the history part of the colosseum & explains things about he past then we enter this massive Colosseum . It takes my breath away & I get goosebumps, you can't stop thinking of the movie Gladiator & mark keeps saying the verse from Russell Crowe" I AM MARCUS MAXIMUS " he is totally hilarious, & Connor & I just keep shaking our head in laughter... We see underneath where all the animals & gladiators would come out from. We are speechless. After spending some great time there we continue our journey on foot again, the boys are great not complaining as Ciarra leads the way to the main square for lunch , Piazza Navona , then onto the famous Pantheon , then onto a fabulous Gelato shop Ciarras personal favourite, OMG these ice creams are the best ever, then to the Spanish Steps , then back to the hotel...nearly 7 hours later we return back to the hotel where we left this morning & I can honestly say we are stuffed.... It's a warm day but not as hot as what it has been probably only 30 degrees today.. We head back to the hotel to recharge our batteries for a few hours & a good shower.. Then head out for dinner . On the way out the door of the hotel I slip on the internal stairs & fall down about 4 steps & take the brunt of the fall on my backside & forearm, mark & the boys are there with me straight away( I slipped on my new shoes from Tuscany as they didn't have grip) once again mark is a shade of white filled with worry god love him & the boys help me straight to the room, I'm a pretty tough chicly but this time the pain broke me, it's now 4 hrs later after the fall & I'm a nice shade of deep purple... Dinner was on the water looking over beautiful bridges on a wharf sitting outside very alfresco indeed. What a way to finish off our beautiful days in Rome ... ( with a slip down the stairs) I'm all good just really bloody sore..!!!!!
