The day starts early as we have a 3 hour Vatican tour booked so we hurry to to the buffet breakup upstairs, it's nothing like an Aussie breaky though there are always 3 cereals ,yogurt , lots and lots of Danishes which the boys love , hard boiled eggs & always salami, ham & cheeses& heard bread( oh how we miss fresh soft bread) even the tea tastes so different over here, in Rome I'm Actually on the black tea as I just can't do room temperature milk no more....
We meet our guide Ciarra pronounced Kiarra in English she is a beautiful Italian dark haired girl whom is an archeologist & how blessed we are to have her as our guide, she is a total book of knowledge. We go straight to the Vatican museum the line up is MASSIVE & she informs us that we don't need to line up as we already have our tickets. Thank god for pre purchasing with the tour company in Australia so we actually have priority...the museums are huge then we learn about the Sistene Chapel before entering & we must cover our knees & shoulders. The paintings by Michaelangelo are gobsmacking , breathtaking.... Words cannot explain & the police inside the chapel are strict , always yelling out ' Shhhh be quiet' no photos ... Then we move onto St Peters Bascilica it's the largest church in the world, the church where the Pope goes when in Rome.. Once again what an experience.. We then move onto the Vatican post office where we post some postcards home with the Vatican stamp.. How nice. Then we catch the taxis back to the Trevi fountain . Our cab had WIFI how exciting that was I could actually download emails whilst in the car as a passenger on the iPad.. Lol..... It was then lunchtime & we needed to recharge the batteries so we went back to the hotel as both the boys slept for nearly 3 hours, they were that tired from walking that they needed sleep from 2 pm...... We went to a fabulous place for dinner called 'Fontana Di Venere ' it was actually on trip advisor. Bruno stopped us in the street to tell us about it , basically 3 course meal from 15 euro which is a total bargain. The food was amazing , there was so much of it also.... A great feed indeed...... We then went down the road where Mark & myself had a drawing sketched by the same artist as what the boys had done the night before... Oh gosh we love ROME.. It's awesome.... The place comes to life especially at the famous Trevi Fountain you just never get sick of looking at it ever....it's been a big day & we are tired so by 10 pm it's back to the hotel & off to bed..Goota love Rome.... Good night..!!!
