We could sleep in a little later this morning, as I had previously made a reservation on line to visit the Reichstag (German parliament building) at 10:45. We took a 3 km cab ride there and spent a little time at the nearby Brandenburg gate (see pic) before heading over to the Reichstag. I showed them the official looking letter they'd sent me (typical German bureaucracy) and we made our way through the security apparatus.
We wound our way up, and then down, the glass dome, enjoying the great views of Berlin with audio guide commentary. Before leaving we stopped for coffee at the terrace cafe. We had wanted to make a reservation to eat there later, as someone at home had recommended it to us, but "nicht moeglich". They were full up.
From the Reichstag we undertook another Rick Steves' walking tour. Sights too numerous to mention but we started at the Reichstag and ended up at Alexanderplatz hours later. On the way we stopped for a salad bar lunch and also took a 1 hour river cruise on the Spree.
For dinner we found a "steakhaus" at Alexanderplatz and from there took a cab back to the hotel. Since it was too early to turn in, we decided to go for a walk to the nearby Ku'damm, where we were surprised and a bit disappointed to see the Kaiser Wilhelm Gedaechtniss Kirche (one of Berlin's most famous sites) completely wrapped with scaffolding, for "cleaning and restoration".
So ended another good day of sightseeing. Weather was cool (high of 18) but at least it was sunny.
