Bathing Beauties in Baños!
Exactly as the name suggests Baños is known for it´s baths, but these are no regular baths, no chlorine just natural spring water, although it did look a bit murky.
We went to Las Piscinas de La Virgen - the only hot pools around, yeah that´s right hot pools, like having a bath!
It was amazing escaping the cold mountain air to just slip into a nice hot bath, sound tranquil?
Think again.
Yes, it was amazing, but we were surrounded by lots of families, inflatables, yes inflatables all over the show! Not relaxing as we expected but very very interesting as non of the ecuadorians seemed to be able to swim.
They sort of doggy paddled or just attempted and stopped. Having heard the people of Baños described as water babies we were shocked that they couldn´t swim and a little bit more wet after being splashed repeatedly during their attempts.
It was fun though and we had a beautiful view of one of the towns many waterfalls which as it happens was sourced to three mini waterfalls within the baths that you could go under... We tried it and caught the attention of all the locals after I screamed it was SO SO COLD!
I got laughed at quite a bit at the baths, from one lady saying my bikini was porqueno (not sure of spelling) but little bikini (hahaa) they all had tankinis on, I was hapy when a fellow bikini lady made her way over to our bath. To te man coming over and telling me I was only allowed to wear my bathing suit, I was scoping the place out - fully clothed dipping my toe in each bath to see which was hottest!
The bathing beauties of Baños made quite the impression but it´s safe to say we didn´t go for another dip in the baths!
Instead we went buggy racing - check out pics on facebook to see what a buggy is! :)
Will keep you updated and love you all!
p.s hope you´re having a good nigt shift Ali and this entertained you for a little while :)
