Puerto Iguazu, a little town bordering Brasil and home to one of the most spectacular visions we have come across up to now on our trip, Iguazu Falls.
The park itself wasn't very big and nowhere near as difficult to navigate as we first thought. So we headed straight to our 100 pesos boat ride that takes you under the longest and most impressive fall.
As we walked along the lower trail we were mesmorised by the number of falls that were actually in the park, from tiny trickles to roaring, cascading falls. Then we turned the corner and got our first glimpse at Iguazu Falls... Breath taking. I think the thunderous noise will stay with us forever, it was out of this World!
After many photo opportunities, including the sought after rainbow shot and passing many soaking wet tourists we arrived at the boat entry point. We were not ready for just how wet we were going to get. We were given a dry bag and life jacket and we boarded a very wet boat, JH topless and me with my bright blue mac on :)
In and out of the falls a few times and not so much as a drop of water got us, it was amazing to see the falls up close then, the boat speeded up and in (and I mean IN) we went, absolutely drenched. I couldn't actually open my eyes the force of the water was so strong, everyone was laughing, screaming and shouting. It was AWESOME!
12 minutes later and back on dry land we tried attempted to dry ourselves, every item of clothing was wet through but it was so worth it!
After the boat ride we didn't leave despite being wet to our underwear, we went and did the upper trail which takes you around the falls giving you a vertical view of just how high the falls really are... Pretty damn high, and even taller than Niagra Falls.
At the end of the walkway there was a guy selling typical iguazu souveniers or so we thought, he was actually drawing the falls with his fingers in 2minutes flat! Impressive and the art work was really good, so good in fact we purchased a few magnets :)
We hoppped on the train that circles the park (after many more photos and just gazing at the falls) and headed back to Puerto Iguazu for a hot shower and a delicious quiche from La Mammas pasteria (delicious).
We were able to see the falls from every angle and hopefully our photos captured the beauty of this wonderous place, where rainbows come and go in seconds, the noise can be deafening and you go home soaking wet.
Spectacular!
