Quilotoa Loop.
The Quilotoa loop is known to most travellers as a way to see the coutryside and interact with the local people and it can take between 2 and 5 days to complete the loop depending on how much time you have.
We decided to head from Latacunga to Zumbua (will correct spelling after) to the Saturday market then on to Quilotoa to see the laguna! The market was ok, not as good as Otavalo but did have a yummy dried pancake with sugar on bargain price of 25cents.
Hopped on a pick up truck for hte 20minute ride to Quilotoa lake... AMAZING!!
We decided to go a for walk to the lake.... A long way down, such beautiful scenery though but very cold. We were lazy coming back and got on a horse each.. Martine and Chocolate! They were lovely and their owner Manuel was lovely and they stopped for breaks and had lots of water when we got back!
Not much going down in Quilotoa, it´s all about the lake so we spent the rest of the evening in the diningroom playing cards with Steve and a French bloke.. JOhn Henry was not good at s##t head.Log fire in the room kept us toastie for a while but the floor was wet and it was freezing by morning not a good sleep to sent us off on our 6 hours walk... or HIKE!!
There isn´t really much I can say about the journey to Chuchilan except that it was so so difficult, we got lost numrous times and then I got biten by a dog.
We were walking past farm land on a dirt road, there were lots of dogs that just barked at us bu tas we walked past this one house they just came for us and one fo them got me in the back of the leg... ´i´ve been biten´ jh shouts ´RUUUUUN´ I was like just walk just walk and their own came and got them.
PANIC PANIC PANIC. Three hours later and a lot of hiking, laughter, tears and getting lost... shouting to locals across canyons we made our way to Mama Hildas where she sent me to the hospital. Lots of cleaning later I felt much better.
Now i´m just stuck with having ten injections, 7 this week then 1 every ten days for a month.. and they hurt, ALOT in your stomach and it itches so I have to put ice on it for a couple of hours after.
All fun and games. Heading to Banos next to chill out for a couple more days!!
Love you all xxxxxxxx
