So after breakfast we caught the open top hop on hop off bus from just outside the hotel. The bus went along the sea front, up & down some hills and along to the Golden Gate Bridge. Jo & I got off to walk the 1.7miles over it. We learnt there was enough cable to go round the world 3 times, and it is painted 'international orange' -the gift shop even sells the same paint for Americans to paint the houses with! It was a glorious winters day, really sunny with only a bit of breeze so the views were great & it wasn't too cold, great for taking pictures J. Also joining us walking over the bridge were about 100 blokes dressed in santas hats, which was a pretty weird sight!
After our walk we got on the bus again and rode it round to union square, going through a park & the civic quarter enroute. Union square is where the big department stores are so it was quite busy with all the xmas shoppers, but was nice to see the festive window displays - Macys even had kittens in the window (the rspca were trying to encourage animal adoption - but remember kids, a kitys for life……) Also in union square was a half naked man sat smoking pot - random! Jo & I went for lunch at an 'authentic' diner, it had a classic car parked randomly inside it! After a wander round the shops we boarded the bus again & headed to coits tower. After walking up the steepest hill ever we got the lift up to the top of the tower for some nice views across the city. We walked back to the hotel & are just about to have a disco nap before hitting the town tonight.
