Today we continued our roadtrip driving from LA to San Diego. We again ignored the sat nav to drive down highway 1 again. This detour was def not worth it! Despite it being called the pacific coast highway we drove for 2 hours through small towns (listening to the beach boys) before we saw any pacific or beach! When we eventually did find the coast we stopped for brunch in a pretty town called Huntington in Orange County (aka the OC!)
We checked into the hotel around 4. The hotel is def the nicest place so far, due to it being Christmas we got it quite cheap too. It has a rooftop terrace and a fountain in the lobby bar - and champagne cocktails on special for just $5! We're staying in the Gaslamp quarter which has been regenerated from derelict factories to trendy bars - the first place we've been that actually has a single street of bars, everywhere else they have been scattered and we've never been sure where to go out, so in celebration of this, Jo & I put on our frocks & hit the the town. Everyone in San Diego seemed very friendly and Jo was impressed when a tramp wished her Merry Christmas and we were both impressed when 2 of them joined together to create a 'down n out dancing duo' and performed for us on the street outside the bar for our entertainment!!
