Georgia I see the Black Sea. Pretty exciting for me. Batumi is the Georgian summer playground on the sea. It is a wild mix if Soviet era concrete and amazing new building. Many under construction. Lovely 6-7k esplanade to walk. It is Pauline's birthday here so we have celebrated in the usual style. Food, drink, laughs. And she and I got to wear our new jackets. In all a lovely couple of days.

Georgia A lovely day for the drive to Kutaisi. Lunch in the square before a drive to the Prometheus Caves. Found after the 1985 earthquake by the usual method. A dog fell in it. Quite well done with only muted lighting, about1.4k ending with a boat ride of about 400m. Then back to Kutaisi and the home stay up on the hill near the Bagrati cathedral. Pauline and I wandered up. Nearly rebuilt after centuries of ruin, but with a strange modern addition. There is ...

Georgia. Drove to Gori the birth place of Stalin. Had a guided tour here which was interesting and did mention the 4 million who died. The drive to uplistsikhe an ancient town carved into a hill over looking the Mtkvari river. A great spot to camp. And our 2nd last camping night!! I think we are all pleased. It is interesting to see the sites we are taken to and the sites we miss as we travel

Georgia. The capital. A lovely mix of old and new cities. Spent hours wandering the old city, visiting the museum, eating in great cafés and rode the sky rail to the citadel at night. Three nights here and left knowing another would be good.

Left the lovely city of Yeravan via Lake Seven to our bush camp before the border to Georgia. Lake Seven is now 20m lower than pre soviet years. Thank goodness plans to drain it to 1/6 of its size were abandoned. It's level is gradually being raised causing cleaner water, more fish and some flooded resorts. Drive through the Debed canyon again. Even more spectacular without rain! Camped in a paddock near the monastery which is small but beautiful.
