We set the alarm to wake up at 5am. The longtail boat picked us up at 6am to take us to a pier. We were then collected by a minibus which took us to a layover station and we got transferred to a coach which took us to the port at Surathani.
We boarded a ferry which was heading to Koh Samui, we arrived at Nathon Town which is the largest and oldest town on the island (capital of Koh Samui) at 11.45am. We got on the back of a pick up truck taxi as this was the cheapest option to get us to Chaweng (100 THB/2 pounds each).
Upon arriving at Chaweng, Helen sat outside a pub to look after the bags, during this time Jay went to look for accomodation. At the pub Helen met a half American half Japanese lady called Marianne, she was on holiday with her two brothers to get away from the troubles in Japan (recent earthquake and radiation).
Jay found a nice bungalow resort called 'Long Beach Lodge' resort, the room was clean and in good condition.
We had lunch at McDonald's as we wanted to try Thailand's McDonald's, Jay had a triple burger meal and Helen had a filet-o-fish meal. It tasted pretty much the same as back home.
After lunch Jay showed Helen around Chaweng Road as he has been here before. Whilst in Chaweng Road we dropped off our dirty clothes to a laundrette to be washed and collected the next day, it cost 40 THB per kg (less than one pound) which was a bargain.
In the evening (6pm) we had a Thai style oil massage for one hour which cost 400 THB. This was much needed after trekking and climbing in Railay, the massage soothed our muscles.
We later had dinner at the 'Chilli' restaurant, Jay had chilli chicken and basil and Helen had chicken noodle soup. They were both delicious. After dinner we went for drinks at the 'Mamo Club' bar where they had a live band performing, they were pretty good for a thai band singing western songs. After this we went back for an early night as we were tired from the day's travel. As we were walking back, it rained and did not stop.
