We woke up to rain which was annoying, it seemed as though the storm was not shifting. We had our complimentary breakfast at 8.30am, Jay had fresh fruit and chicken rice soup. Helen had fresh fruit and shrimp rice soup. It was tasty like yesterday's breakfast.
After breakfast we packed our stuff as we wanted to move into cheaper accomodation. Jay wanted us to stay at the 'Coconut Grove' resort as he has stayed here a few times before and liked it. Jay went out on the scooter with both his backpack and day bag on despite the continuing rainstorm, he got drenched on the way to the 'Coconut Grove' resort. After looking at the room, Jay reserved it, left his backpack and day bag at the reception there and rode back to get Helen from 'Long Beach Lodge' resort. We then checked out of our resort and went on the scooter. Jay wore Helen's day bag on his front and Helen got on the back of the scooter behind Jay wearing her heavy backpack on her back.
Jay returned the scooter which was just around the corner of the 'Coconut Grove' resort. He also collected his passport so that we could check in at this resort. We stayed in a cosy shack with hot water, a fan, leather sofa, cable TV, a big blue Toshiba fridge freezer and a hair dryer for 600 THB per night.
We had an early lunch at 'Khaosan restaurant and bakery'. Jay had a shrimp burger, spring rolls and mango juice. Helen had a tuna baguette and hot chocolate. We both enjoyed our lunch.
The rain had cleared up so we went into a tour operator called 'Tips Tops', we booked a 'VIP' bus to Bangkok for 800 THB (16 pounds) each, leaving on 28th March 2011. After booking this, we browsed around 'Chaweng Centre Shopping
Plaza'. After browsing we decided to go back and get the same scooter again. We headed towards 'Lamai beach' where Jay showed Helen the main Lamai street. We tried to find the 'Grandfather and Grandmother Rocks' but we came across the 'Khunaram Temple' where the infamous mummified monk was. He was sat in an upright position in a casket as this was what he wanted after death at the age of 79 years old. We left the temple and got caught in torrential rainfall, so we pulled over at a local restaurant. When the rain had calmed down a bit, we decided to make a dash back to Chaweng. We got absolutely drenched again and jumped into the hot shower.
For dinner we went to the 'Islander' bar restaurant, Jay had cheese and bacon burger with fries and peanut curry sauce and a pint of Singha beer to drink. Helen had fried wide noodles with beef and a watermelon juice to drink.
After dinner, Jay rang his parents. We then went to the 'Solo' bar where Jay had a sangsom with coke and Helen had a 'Samui Paradise' cocktail. This was a modern bar playing funky house music. After drinks at this bar, Jay showed Helen the main night life district and we went into the 'Happy Bar' next which was a 'go go' bar. Jay had a bottle of Chang beer and Helen had a 'Blue Lady' cocktail. We played a game of pool which cost 20 THB. The last bar we went into was called 'Henry's Africa'. This was a lively bar which was like a Thai version of a Hooters bar. Jay had another bottle of Chang and Helen had a 'Tom Collins' cocktail. We also had a midori shot and a 'Blow Job' shot which was Bailey's, Kahula, whipped cream and strawberry sauce, very tasty indeed! We had a great evening enjoying the drinks and nightlife in Chaweng.
