FRIDAy 11TH FEBRUARY
I arrived late the previous night so I didnt have the time to take in my surroundings but I checked into a really cute little wooden cabina. The couple who ran it were super chilled and nice and totally intune to the caribbean vibe! I got up early and walked along the golden sand beaches of the national park looking at the beautiful blue sea. It was by far, the best beach that I had ever been to, especially that early in the morning. I had a little sunbathe and a little swim before I hid away from the midday sun with a book and a fresh mango. I went back later in the afternoon with no clothes or shoes (it was very interesting walking through town on a rocky road!) to swim properly and not have to worry about my stuff being stolen. Just my luck though, I got stung by a stray jelly fish tentacle on my arms and across my belly which really hurt! Bopo hoo! thank god it wasnt an actual jelly fish! When i got back i found that the cabinas had filled up so a few of us went for a couple of beers and a meal as we were all feeling too lazy to cook. what a perfect paradise!
SATURDAY 12TH FEBRUARY
Im not swo good at getting an even coverage with the suncream so i have a few red patches and thought it best if I followed the caribbean lifestyle and chilled out in a hammock, with some actvity of course!
I was awake at 4am so I got up at sunrise to the bellows of the howler monkeys to walk through the reserve and I was treated to a whole family of white faced capuchin monkeys eating greakfast low down in the trees, One of the little b*****s even tried to drop a coconut on my head! i swear they were laughing at me. I was kinda tired so when i got back I had a little sleep and a rest in the hammock with a pip[a, a green coconut where you drink the water. ick, not for me.
I also fianlly got to live out a dream of galloping a horse across the waves on a sandy beach at sunset. It was magical. It was kind of a rough ride and not like the nice, padded leather saddles you get at enbglish schools. Instead, the horse had no bit, rope for reins that cut into my hands and a rough, unpadded leather saddle which hurt my bum. It was all made up for though by having a horse that wasnt schooled so actually listened to what I asked her to do, mkost of the time anyway. At one point she decided that she was going home via the forest at full speed no matter what i did but when we reached the piles of driftwood seperating it she stopped dead but i didnt.... I just about managed to stay on by grabbing her neck. Still, I cant believe that I got to do it. I cant believe that I got to gallop a horse and stayed in control!
oh, I nearly forgot, later that night we got a little visitor from the village sloth who actually moved. wow, they are so cute, like a little bear. x
