THURSDAY 27TH JANUARY
I was kind of sad to leave the boys and Arenal but the jeep-boat-jeep taxi ride across Laguna Arenal towards Santa Elena was so awesome I soon got over it. The lake and the surrounding hills were so beautiful and the taxi drive was so hilarious as we fought our way up rocky, dusty, potholed narrow roads that i had a great time chatting to the other travellers. As soon as I got to the hostel and dumped my bags one of the pair of beautifully bronzed, surfer californian dudes asked me if I "wanted to get extreme with them" practically even before he said hello and of course, I said yes. So, before i knew it I was screaming my head off as we zipped high above the forest canopy on a wire and did a 60m tarzan jump (you should sooo check out the video!) it was really worth, especially as we finished off doing a 1km superman-style zipwire hundreds of metres up. i did video it but being an idiot I messed it up. It was such a wicked day and you can always trust a californian for some over the top cheesy enthusiasm to boost your day! woo hoo
FRIDAY 28TH JANUARY
We got up super early this morning to catch the 6am bus to the Monteverde biological reserve but as it was super cold and windy we didn't get great views for a few hours but the landscape and flora was stunning and i had a great time 'funking in the forest' climbing trees and messing around. I did see a snake though which made me jump and a super-sized dragon fly. At the end we stopped at the hummingbird gallery and after 50 odd shots I managed to get a good one of the birds, they move pretty quick for something so small. We also saw a kinkajou stealing bird food which looked like such a cute teddy bear. Apparently Paris Hilton had one as a pet but when she paraded it on the red carpet in front of public it bit her face. Ha! stupid wench deserves to be bitten.
All before lunchtime as well and do you want to know what i did after lunch? I sat in a hammock basking in the sun chatting to everyone and had an ice-cream. bliss!
