I left my hotel early yesterday morning and jumped on the train to Florence, arriving here around 11.30. Got completely lost on the way to the hotel, but I suppose that's half the fun! My hotel is smack bang in the historic centre of Florence, right next to the Palazzo Vecchio and the Loggia dei Lanzi, an outdoor sculpture museum, which is probably my favourite place in Florence. I spent a few hours wandering around and getting my bearings. It feels a lot different to the last time I was here as it was winter then and so much quieter!

This morning was another early start, as I had booked a ticket for the Galleria dell'Accademia for 9.30. Despite having prebooked, I still had to stand in a massive queue to get in, and all that's really in there is the original David, which was beautiful, but there's a damn good copy in the Logia dei Lanzi which is free! More galleries now, the Bargello, then the Uffizi, so I'll refuel on coffee and get going!
