Hayley & Holly On Tour 2006
Hey everyone!
Aren't we good emailing every day like we promised we'd try to? Hope you're all suitably impressed!
We have had another lovely day here, jumped in the shower early to avoid ques (there is one hot shower between about 25 of us - nice) and then I prepared Holly a nutricious breakfast of toast and peanut butter and this horribly sweet instant coffee. So with our nice full bellies we headed off to the Zoo! It took about an hour with the tube ride and bus after that but it was so so worth it.
We saw some wonderful things, we got about 5 metres away from the Orang Utans as some of them are allowed to roam free. They don't come down to the floor though like in the wild so it doesn't feel too phoney. We sat next to a real monkey at the Elephant show, as well as about 60,000 school children who had descended on the zoo for the day.
We particularly enjoyed the Primate section (called The Colourful World of Monkeys - hehehe!). Some of them had the same colour bums as faces, never good. Some of the animals looked pretty bored, the lions especially and the polar bear looked like he was really suffering in the tropical heat, which I guess makes sense.
After that we went to the Orchard Road and went to a fantastic food hall called Food Republic (Becs, this place was made for the binger) and had pork noodles and steamed seafood dumplings. It was absolutely delicious, and not too expensive. After that we went back downstairs and had a couple of beers and watched the world go by. There are a few more tourists round there, we haven't seen many others so we think it's just not the time of year here.
I am taking photos of almost everything don't worry (including evening meals!) but I cannot see a USB plug on PC so can't download them here. I will see what I can do elsewhere though as I've got some cracking shots. I'm no David Bailey but they're fab!
Off to Sentosa Island tomorrow so another early start. We're not sleeping that well as our room is right next to the kitchen which is right next to the shower and toilet (look I told you it was no palace!) so people walk back and forth in flip flops at all hours. Still, we're soldiering on like the troopers we are.
Will write again tomorrow, thanks for all your messages. It's fab to hear from you all.
Lots of love
Hayley & Holly xxx
