Well we've crossed to the south island by ferry- all three boring hours of it!! Wellington was lovley we found the nicest curry place ever - their butter chicken was fab so i'll always be comparing curry's to there in the future! When we got off the Ferry we were in Picton at the very top of the south island. We had considered staying in Picton for a few days but after a bit of reserch on the internet found that there wasn't actually anything there apart from the ferry terminal, and we didn't want to turn into Ferry spotters! So we stayed on the bus down to Nelson. It's a really sweet little town, theres alot of winery's and crops grown on the outskirts because the weather is so good. To be honest we have only seen 2 days of this 'fantastic' weather as it has been mostle overcast but it is spring over here so we can't really complain. About an hour and a half away from Nelson is Abel Tasman National Park (thats a picture of it at the top!). You can get a bus there for about $40 so we spent the day there a couple of days ago. It's really beautiful and we only saw a little piece of it because its huge! We walked from the end of the track until we got to Apple Tree Bay which was a white sandy beach. Here we had some lunch and attemped to sunbathe, however it was so windy we got cold in our bikinis so we ended up sunbathing in our jumpers (which kid of defies the point i know!). Anyway after a couple of hours of relaxing (and shivering) we decided to walk back to where it wasn't so windy and catch the sun. We found a lovley little cafe where (naturally) we just had to have a chocolate brownie and waited for the bus to come pick us up and take us back to Nelson. When the driver arrived he was the same guy who had taken us there that morning. On the way there we had been stopped by the police and the driver issued a speeding ticket, so on the way home he had to re-tell this story to all the new people on the bus. Ear-plugs in!! The nest day we walked up a big steep hill to get to the centre of New Zealand. Once we got up there(sweating and red faced) we found that the views were amazing- especially the grafitti covered statue simboling the centre of new zealand (i think it said something about ass and had a picture!). We had photo op's up there then enjoyed the walk downhill to the bottom, until Holly saw a rat on the way down and started clawing at my arm and screaming! As it was so hot that day we took the chance to (yes you guessed it-) sunbathe in a really nice public garden for the afternoon. Yesterday there was a local market on so we had a mooch round there. I treated myself to some Green Lipped Mussels (the biggest ive seen so far!) and got 1kg for the equivalent of 1 pound sterling. They're so big i even took a picture but ill upload those when im on a better computer! On Tuesday we head down the west coast to Westport, not really sure what's there but im looking forward to finding out!
