Prior to coronavirus impacting on Australians in an unforseen way. Derek and I had decided to head north instead of returning to Victoria as originally planned To this end he flew to Melbourne to see his family, his chiropractor in Horsham and our container at Brimpaen He arrived back in Perth as the last interstate flights were allowed to land. McGowan (WA premier) had also by this stage threatened to close the zone borders of WA. after consulting with Paul and Karen we decided to head for the Pilbara, Karratha in particular as the hospital there is excellent and the WA system of transferring patients over great distances is second to none.
What we hadn't considered was the hostility meted out to "travellers" somehow people in caravans and motorhomes were not being welcomed by councils, free campsites were suddenly closed, and citizens blocked roads of there own volition to keep people out of their domains. By the time we reached Karratha we were feeling pretty freaked out
About half hour after setting up I had a call from an old friend at Newham near Woodend who after chatting for a while offered us a site on their five acre block Could we make it back in time to exit WA Derek rang Ceduna police who said after some formalities, we would be able to drive through SA. Could we make it to the Goldfields region before the intrastate regulations came into place - yes if we set off immediately - so without even staying a night we headed back down south toward Geraldton and then turned east to cross the midlands in a zig-zag fashion Fortunately we arrived at Coolgardie with time up our sleeve To be continued

Frances De Biasi Hi Annie and Derek, I've been wondering how you are getting on in the current health crisis. Glad you are well, and hope the limitations on interstate travel have not impacted on you too much and you can keep on enjoying life on the road. In Ballarat all is too quiet, and of course prematurely cold. Look after yourselves and hopefully keep on having fun. Love Fran De B
