MERREDIN
Once again, we found silo art. Each town tries to find something different, and Merredin is no exception. Can't say it is the best silos art we have seen but worth the look. Meriden has some interesting buildings from the art deco period. The most interesting being the Cummins theatre which has hosted interesting artist such as Jonny O'Keefe, Winifred Atwell, Harry Secombe, John Paul Young, David Helfcott, The Deltones, Slim Dusty, and AC/DC. The theatre was the creation of Alice Mary Cummins who became Western Australia's first female barrister. She joined the family business as a bookkeeper at Kalgoorlie Brewing and Ice Company Limited and later the company director. She expanded the business and returned company profits to the community, one project being the Cummins theatre which was built in 1928.
The town also has military and railway museums.
