Hi all, really enjoying Vietnam so far. Spent a couple of days in Ho Chi Minh, visited the Reunification Palace, think Austin Powers with 60's architecture, groove furniture, heli pad and cinema. We also managed to find time for a spa treatment with Clare having 28 years of dead skin shaved off her heals!!
We then travelled through the mountains to Dalat, a town known as a honeymoon destination for the Vietnamese. Being up in the mountains the weather was a pleasant 26c during the day. We enjoyed the cool nights wearing trousers and a jumper though it was very strange to see the Vietnamese in coats, scarves, hats and gloves. Dalat had a beautiful lake which we strolled around though unfortunately didn't get the chance to go on the swan pedalo's. We enjoyed eating the local strawberries (fresh and sugar coated chewy sweets) and spent an enjoyable afternoon at the flower garden (another honeymoon attraction) where we enjoyed spotting the random Disney themed displays. The scenery from Dalat to Na Trang (beach town) was some of the most amazing mountain views we've ever seen. At one point we were so high we were in the clouds.
In Na Trang we spent the afternoon at the mud baths which was interesting as we shared our bath with a load of Russians!!
Next we sleeper bussed it (12 hours) to the UNESCO World Heritage town of Hoi An. I totally fell in love with the old town, jotted around were traditional old houses, local businesses making embroidered pictures (so amazing they looked like real photos) and bridges lit by lanterns. Most noticeably there were tailors lining the streets ready to make you anything you asked for. I went for a suit and little black dress though to be honest could have purchased much much more. The dresses were in every style possible and the fabrics just to die for. At that moment it was a shame we weren't catching a plane back home as we could have easily filled many suitcases. Love to all, H x x
