Hi all, sorry its been so long since we last updated, time has flown. Here's the rest of what we got up to in China.
After leaving Dali, we travelled back to Kunming, while we were there we visited the Stone Forest which although spectacular the whole park was quite commercial with lots of over the top landscaping which spoiled the whole experience slightly.
We were sad that our time in China was coming to an end but were so glad that we had chosen to go to Yunnan, its such a diverse province with so many amazing places. Though the only thing we were gutted about was not seeing a Panda and the fact that no matter how hard we looked we couldn't find a kite shop anywhere, maybe next time, China certainly hasn't seen the last of us. After all we haven't seen the Great Wall yet!!
We caught an early morning flight to Guangzhou and after what felt like a mission we arrived in Kowloon (Hong Kong). We checked into the Sailsbury YMCA which we would thoroughly recommend. The hotel was in a fantastic location right near the harbour and the lobby was decked out in Christmas decorations. This was very overwhelming as until this point we hadn't seen a single decoration and therefore didn't feel Christmasy at all. As recommended by the Kenwood boys the Sailsbury was an excellent choice. We booked into the 4 bed dorm which looked like a lovely hotel room. We were really lucky as the 3 nights we were there we had the room to ourselves.
We had a jam packed couple of days and once we started Chirstmas shopping barely had 5 mins to ourselves. The evening we arrived we went to the symphony of lights, an amazing display across the harbour with laser beams and lights flashing from the high rise buildings to music. As well the buildings were decorated with Christmas lights which made the whole thing quite spectacular.
I met up with some of the Kenwood boys which was really nice and on their recommendation we travelled across the harbour and up on the tram to the Peak which overlooks the whole city. We also made it across to Macau for the day; it was amazing to see the massive casinos and hotels.
