Hi all, sorry for taking so long to update, here's an insight as to what we've been up to in the last week.
First of all the A380 airbus is MASSIVE, we also found out that Emirates don't upgrade you even if 3/4 of business class is empty (flight into Bangkok), though perhaps we weren't suitably dressed!
Bangkok was a crazy place and a real eye opener for both of us. We were staying just of Khao San road but when we arrived at our hostel there was "no room at the inn" so ended up at an windowless box elsewhere.
Khao San road is a crazy tourist street with numerous global fast food chains every couple of 100 yards as well as local street vendors selling Pad Thai, banana pancakes and even fried cockroaches and scorpions (did not try).
Spent a very hot and sticky morning visiting the Grand Palace (most famous place in thailand) to see the emerald Buddha. The palace was an amazing sight with so much gold everywhere we turned. Cash for gold would have had a field day!
Next stop was Chiang Mai (very north of Thailand), however we found out that due to flooding in a town just north of Bangkok the trains and buses weren't operating. Ended up catching the 1 hour flight with the budget airline air Asia instead. My expert packing came in handy as my bag weighed a total 14.9kg of a possible 15kg baggage allowance, get in!!
Will update on Chiang Mai soon, love to all H x x
