Day 24
Had a quiet restful day today. Picked wild thimble berries around our campsite for our breakfast this morning. Delicious, sort of like a raspberry, very sweet.
The weather in Southeast Alaska has been record breaking, several days in a row, sunny, low 70s, no humidity. We expected mostly rain, but we have been pleasantly surprised and thankful for the blue skies.
Went into the tiny little town to check out their shops, then went to the Nolan Center, saw their film on the Stikene Wilderness, had lunch outside at the Stikine Inn on the waterfront, (Zimovia Strait).
There was a cruise ship in port; Wrangell gets a ship about once a week, and they are the smaller ones. This one, the Regatta from Oceania Cruise Lines has about 700 passengers.
Next we took a nice drive on Forest Service Roads, stopping at
Pat's Lake, and continued on along the Eastern Passage, to Three Sisters Overlook, then back to camp. Cooked our salmon from the nice people at Zack's, and it was fantastic!
