So I took my mother's advice and had dinner with the Nigerian who also brought another Nigerian along. I dubbed him Baby Boi, even though he's 28, I just couldn't remember his name. So they take up to Ikebukuro where we found a small African pub and we were served an African dish and a few beers. The dish smelled......different but it tasted good. Basically, it was yams the texture of of raw dough and a bowl of meat and weird spices. You also get a bowl of water. You place your hand in the water then grab some of the yams, squish it around and dip it into the bowl of meat and spices. Then you swallow whole.
It was nice and then whole pub was full of Nigerian men. My roomie and I were the only women for a while but then two more men brought Japanese women and because these men were regulars they got a welcome back Nigerian chant-song thing. I felt like I should have been dressed in loincloth or something. And on the tv screens they were playing old school joints like boyz II men, new edition, new kids on the block, toni tone tony, etc. It was a great time. Then my roommate and I had to catch the last train home so we left and Anayo, the first African I told you about, paid for everything. They said that in their culture, if you invite a woman out the man pays for everything, but if a woman invites you out - you split the cost. My roommate almost made anayo cry. She doesn't like him and was insistant on paying for her train ticket. It only costs 1.60 but he gave her 1.60. He said, "I am the man. I take care of it" in his little Nigerian accent. ahahha. And then we came home on the last train and went to sleep.
I have to ask the question.....
Mom, what have you gotten me into???? hahahaha
