UGH!!!! I just wrote out a very long blog text and it was all erased!!!!
Well here we go again.
So it's friday and I'm done with classes! whew! I had a quiz today in Japanese but I aced it and now its time for the weekend! I just have to reiterate that JAPAN IS EXPENSIVE. I spent over $300 on transportation, food, school supplies, bathroom and kitchenette amenities and books. I haven't got a bike or phone YET! But granpa T said he'd help me with the bike situation. We I just dont want to pay the money for the train I walk and thats a 55 minute walk from the dorm. They say 40 minutes but thats if you're speed walking and YOU CANNOT speed walk it to school everyday. You'd have to take a shower as soon as you get there because you sweat THAT much. Trust me I know! A simple phone with a simple prepaid plan is going to be $80 so thats not bad. I'm still trying to figure out if I'm going to donki Quiote or softbank to get my phone. Probably softbank. Its a tad bit cheaper.
Anyways whatever books I had to get and didn't have enough cash I used my debit card... but I'm sure I only used it for japanese class books which rounded up to be $72, the cheapest class I think I've ever had. BOOKS ARE SOOO EXPENSIVE HERE! I mean truly. Books for school at Grand Valley would range between $300 and $500. Thats not the case here. But so far I'm doin good because I've only spent $300. However I do have to purchase a book thats like $120 online because the bookstore ran out (good because they probably jacked the price up even more than that). I dont see many bookstores and I've yet to see a library. Maybe they don't have a library system. Wouldn't that be crazy. To not have access to knowledge like that. Just think about it. All those times I could have gone to any library at school or at home, any borders or barnes & nobles just to past the time and people in small towns can't do that here. You know even children's books (a small one) costs around $8 or $15.
Last night I bumped into this guy I met in the library the other day. And he's super nice. So nice, its weird. We were walking and talking and he's like:
"You want something to eat? I'll feed you. You don't have a phone? I'll buy you one free of charge. I'll take you to an African restaurant and then afterwards we'll go to a club? Do you need money to get home? I'll give you some."
I'm like WHOA!!!!! I wonder if its because he's Nigeria. My friend who was dating and African guy said that her guy did similar stuff like: always trying to feed her and always giving her money. They had only been on 1 date!
Anyway tonight I'm doing happy hour with the people I live with. They were thinking of going to this club Ageha tomorrow night but I don't know about that. (you'll see why). I have some studying and laundry I want to do and besides to get to Ageha you have to go to this back alley, get on a coach bus that drives you to the club (which is far away). And it costs around $40!!! Now, I've gone to a few clubs in many places but I've NEVER EVER had to pay $40 for a club. ITs suppose to be the best club in JAPAN and the BEST sound system too. Everyone should check it out. google ageha club japan. ITs MASSIVE!
I may just do laundry tomorrow. For a load in the wash it costs (get this) $4!!! and $1 to use the dryer for 15 minutes!!! I think I'm planning on trying to wash all my clothes in the kitchen sink with a bar of soap and just using the dryer for 30 minutes. We'll see.
Thats all for now, send me a message on my message board.
PEACE
