So, a surprisingly good night's sleep was had by us both, waking bright and early at 0500 ish local time.
Today's aim: to explore the local area, get some cash, get oriented, etc. This commenced by a gently stroll along the white sands of 7 Mile Beach. My, but we're pale comared to a lot of folk here, and I'm not talking about the indiginous! We both need to catch some rays, and FAST!! The beach is amazing. Very pretty and clean and because it's so vast, it doesn't actually matter that the hotels and condos section off areas as private. At the end of the beach were a couple of pelicans which were not at all adverse to having their photograph taken.
After walking along approximately one quarter of the beach we moved onto the road to hunt caches. Three successfully located by Belinda. We also visited the CI National Gallery which was showing a rather impressive photography exhibition, where old and new images had been merged to illustrate both the physical and pace of life changes to the island over the decades.
Carmen found out why the chicken crossed the road... it would appear to be as simple as 'because she was following the cockerel'! There are chickens and roosters all over the place.
Carmen also seems to have picked up some sort eating disorder along the way. Rather than purging she can't seem to eat enough. We seem to be constantly surrounded by cooking aromas which are unbelievably tempting, even the meaty ones seem to smell good. We are, however, certainly both very impressed by what we've eaten so far.
We picked up an interesting tipple from the local liquor store - Cocoa di Vine - yes, chocolate and wine. It is actually a lot more palletable than it sounds. Apparently you have to 'kiss your inhibitions goodbye as this sinful decadence offers a rich chocolate taste and silky finish'. It's definitely very good.
Belinda is now in bed asleep (the local time is 1630), probably as a result of the glass of chocolate wine and two cocktails she just downed in a rather short space of time. I think the Paralyser has been given it's name for a reason!
