Grace's Adventures!
When I last wrote I was planning to go up the observation deck that night and indeed I did, with Ben and Kayleigh from the hostel I work in. The building is 283m, 55 stories and the biggest in Australia - how cool is that! Thought the biggest would be in Sydney but no! Found out the biggest is in Taronto, Canada and is nearly 500m high!!!! Nice useless piece of info for ya! Anyway, as you can imagine from that height the views were really spectacular - you coudl see the whole of Melbourne, out to sea, and the mountains in the distance. Made you realise how massive the city really is - seemed to continue as far as the eye could see! There were binoculars which I looked through and managed to see the top of our house poking out from the trees in front of it - was quite exciting! Waited for it to get dark, but it wasn't long - it was amazing at night - the lights were all you could see and were all sparkly looking - was fab! Oh wow - have just realised that the Rialto towers (the observation deck building) is in the photo I have inserted - its the biggest one! (obviously!)
The next day I cooked the fajitas which were extremely popular - it's always nice when we eat together too, and was good to catch up with Feann who I havent seen for a little while! Friday I got a call early from the recruitment agency I work for asking me to work that day - in an hours time in fact! I was a tad late considering they had to wake me up and I had to get 2 trams and a train to get there! Was nice to work in another centre - it was really different to the ABC centre I worked in quite a bit in Jan - much more laid back (slightly too much!) and with slightly wilder kids as a result! Was more of a challenge which I enjoyed, but not when it was a challenge to actually understand what the staff wanted me to do - they were a little strange! It's so bonkers to turn up at a centre you have never been in, you don't know where anything is, any names of kids or staff, their routines, their ways of dealing with the kids or anything! But most of the time I was just an extra person, helping supervise/read stories/serve food/clear up/get them to sleep which is quite straight forward! I was in the kindergarden there and the older ones were pretty cheeky and boisterous and was on my own a few times!! All good fun though! Worked in another centre yesterday a bit closer and was actually early - I know that's hard to believe for me!! It was a really nice place, and the kids and staff were really nice too so had a great day, but unfortunately they didn't need me all day so I ended up only working for 4 hours! Oh well - better than nothing! It was good coz I was in all different age groups' rooms there which made it more fun too. On most of the other days I have been working in the hostel which is still pretty good, but has been quiet which is very boring!! Doing another BBQ tonight so hoping the rain stays away - it has been showering all day!
Friday last week me and Ben went to this comedy nights he got free tickets for - was so funny, really enjoyed it! This poor girl next to us didnt think so though - in the first act she seemed to be laughing loads then after the first break she had a face like thunder and looked very miserable and angry! In the last act she stupidly decided to walk out (probably to the toilet) and the comedian on stage started asking her where she was going and stuff - totally embarressing her basically! She completely ignored him, and continued to on her way back in and once she was sat down, which was a bad mistake! He continued to take the mick out of her, then sing a song about her which entertained everyone apart from her of course! In the end she stormed out and who we presumed was her boyfriend went after her. The comedian spoke to the other couple they were sat with and it turns out that it was their first date - was all quite bizzare! The bloke then came back in but without the girl - none of that was planned but it made good comedy - felt sorry for the girl though, and really hoped he wouldn't start commenting about me or Ben!
Saturday night I went to a club I have been to before called Bubble - was really good but for some reason just not as fun as last time! met some Swedes, Danes, Ozzies and Kiwis and had a good boogie (till 4am) then had to go to work the next day! Felt fine though - just went to sleep in the afternoon to make up for it!
That's it really to be honest! Not long till I leave Melbourne now - much that I love it here am very excited about seeing new places, especially national parks and nice beaches of course! Leave a message if you get time - would love to hear what people have been up to and how you are!
