Day 8: Had a great sleep last night. The hotel in Dalat was just lovely. We boarded the bus at 8.30am this morning and drove directly to the market, where we had the opportunity to experience all those sights, that sometimes you wish you could just remain ignorant about!! Day 7: Up at 4am this morning, not very nice! We were meant to leave the hotel at 5.45am but didn't get away until 5am (seems to be the same ones always late, and it's not me!!) We were caught up in a queue at the airport, and ended up being rushed through as the flight was boarding. We had to run to the gate, but still made it in time! Day 6: This morning we drove down to the Mekong Delta, where we took a boat from My Tho across the Mekong river to Unicorn Island. We changed into smaller boats (sampans) and cruised up one of the canals. We visited a fruit orchard and sampled the interesting range of local produce, then moved on to enjoy a lunch with a very hospitable community. Day 5: Big day today, beginning with an 1 i/2hr bus ride to the Cu Chi Tunnels, well known for the Viet Cong's part in the Vietnam War. Quite a strange place really, with rifle fire going off, and pretend land mines 'blowing up' every so often. Scared the living daylights out of me I can tell you!! Quite unecessary really!!
