Leaving Boltana with the encouragement of advice from the enthusiastic lady in the tourist office I took a trip into Parque Nacional de Ordesa y Monte Perdido. I thought it was just a quick 10 kms but turned out to be a very narrow winding round trip of 50kms. At the furthest point I was surprised to see about 20 other cars. I thought that I was the only one daft enough to do that sort of journey. See the picture!
Once there you could understand why as there are some amazing hikes especially up the canyon Aniscio. I just hiked a short circuit which passed by a little church in a cave. The journey back was so beautiful with views of Monte Perdido 3365 metres.
Now back on the main road I was leaving Spain with mixed feelings.
The road was good and the mountainous scenery picturesque. I was hoping to stock up on some cheap red wine that I had sampled but there was nowhere to buy it along the way. This route into France took me through the Biesla tunnel.
