Reluctantly left beautiful Albarracin. Took ages chatting and saying goodbye.
Firstly I drove behind the campsite where there was a dramatic canyon and later some cave paintings. I couldn't spend too much time as I had a long way to go.
Drove to Zaragoza and just had a quick look around as there was nowhere to park. Stopped just outside to buy a sandwich for lunch which was vile.
Now drove on to Boltana as the campsite had been recommended. The last 50 kms of the 360 kms was along a very narrow road. Near the beginning, a van came at me driving like a maniac. I pulled over but he just flew past whacking my wing mirror and smashing it. He made no attempt to stop and must have known as it made an almighty noise. I drove on nervously in case it fell apart some more. The glass is all over the van even over on my side.
The sat nav coordinates took me directly to another camp side but I perservered and found the correct one where I got a cheery greeting and found myself a quiet spot in a corner next to a friendly French couple. He has nearly finished writing a book on his years of sailing around the world. He knows Falmouth well.
The next day my mission was to repair the mirror. It took 8 different locations but in the end I had to go to a carpentry place to have a mirror cut - as you do, and then a car body repair shop where the charming chap cleaned off the old mirror and replaced it. The cost was €10 for each. Initially one chap tried to tell me that the whole unit had to be replaced and they would have to order it from VW in Germany. Another one had suggested driving 40 kms to another town.
By now the weather had changed. As I'd had some information from a very enthusiastic lady in the Boltana tourist office I decided to drive into the Guara park and then onto Campo. This was yet another new road and some stunning mountain scenery driving over another 1000 metre pass. Campo seems to be a place where they do white water rafting. I stopped by the river to let Sacha have a run around while I sat in the van chomping some food that I had just bought in the supermarket. It was still raining but not so heavily and the thunder had stopped.
Back at the Boltana campsite the sun was shining so tried to dry a few things but then there was another shower.
I cooked some very good spinach and had some smoked salmon which went down very well with €1 bottle of wine.
There were many flies buzzing around so I bought some fly spray. Well, I sprayed and it became stuck and. wouldn't stop spraying. While trying to fiddle with it it sprayed everything including me and the dog!
I put it in the bag and took it back to the camp shop - it was still spraying away.
