Woke up in the dark and my phone time said 10.30. I thought that is good because I went bed about 12.30 am.
Then I couldn't understand that it was still dark outside. I wondered if I had slept round the clock with exhaustion.
Then my clock changed to 6.30 but it was still dark and I didn't know if it was morning or evening, definitely confused.
Wondered if I would have the whole night to go through feeling wide awake.
Was relieved to see it getting light around 7 am. Made another hot chocolate - this time the machine only made half a cup.
Rob and Emily have a modern apartment overlooking a marina, then the airport, then the Boston skyline.
Took bus then subway to South station. Jolly Josina who originates from Brazil took me under her wing.
At the station with loads of food outlets I chose a pizza and salad. The pizza was better than any I had in Italy.
With greasy fingers I wrote out an ambitious itinerary to cover all the areas I wanted visit with 8 segments in the 15 days allowed on my $439 pass.
We shall see how it pans out.
Then I wandered around Boston trying to buy a SIM card for my old Nokia phone which proved impossible. Also nowhere had an adaptor for Europe to US.
Then did some sightseeing and more eating. At dusk the vagrants were beginning to gather in the park so made my way home on the subway using my prepaid charliecard.
Back at the apartment chatted with Emily who had just been out for a run.
Rob is an officer in the airforce and she is just finishing a social work degree.
