Falmouth Nova Scotia is halfway between the North Pole and the equator. Made this statement before by mastike!
I stayed in Avon Motel owned by a Chinese lady and I even managed to barter the price down.
In the late afternoon I went to where you could see the sea and also drove across a dyke and to Evangeline Beach but it was dark by then.
On the way back I had a reoccurring problem with the Garmin Sat Nav. There was a new stretch of road and when which I I couldn't exit where the sat nav said and when I exited at the next place it brought me back again miles later to the same non exit. I could still be going around now but somehow I escaped.
This area is the Minas Basin which for a variety of factors has the tide difference in the world- sometimes exceeding 16 metres. That's going some.
There is also a tidal bore in the Avon river valley. As I was driving away I heard in the radio that as some surfers were surfing this tidal wave today, some officials had opened a dam gate causing a wave to meet it in the opposite direction. They just clung onto their boards for life and luckily no one drowned.
Having visited the third Falmouth I decided to return as the distances in Canada are too great. I passed the sprawling city of Truro and left Nova Scotia for New Brunswick.
By now it was peeing with rain. Yes the first rain I have experienced in the 3 weeks I have been here. It wasn't pleasant driving but I just carried on and decided to return to the US.
I didn't want to return the way I came so went further north.
The US border fellows were friendly but made me get out of the car while they searched it and asked many questions. They were obviously not busy!
I drove to Lincoln in Maine and am now in The White House Inn Motel which is owned by enthusiastic Glen. He bought it 2 years ago and has done it up tastefully. It is a beautiful house and motel which he only paid $187,00. What a bargain.
I have a king size bed which Is the sort of luxury I am getting used to.
In the morning I chatted with a Spanish couple.
Renting a nice car is ok and gets you around but it does isolate you. So I am glad I travelled around before with Amtrak and busses. But renting a car was the only way to get to that part of Canada.

Jane Hi Char, good to hear of your travels. I'm in a very damp Liskeard for 2 weeks staying with a darling little 91yr old lady slightly confused, just lost her husband. Its a beautiful place; I'm looking out the window from my bed, waiting for her to wake up, fab view over the countryside and a massive rainbow at the moment. Take care travel safe and see you soon xx
