We had an early start to the day in Potosi, as we were going to visit the infamous Potosi mine, situated in Cerro Potosi (a 4800m mountain). According to official records, 45,000 short tons (41,000 metric tons) of pure silver were mined from Cerro Rico from 1556 to 1783, and Potosi became one of the richest town in all of the Americas.
