Well, it has been absolutely crazy in B.A the last few days. The weather has been all over the show, some days being so hot you could swim, and others it's been icy.
The hostel I am staying at - Milhouse, is reknowned for it's great parties, and it hasn't disappointed. Unfortunately this means that my days are cut a bit short so I can recover. That being said, I have spent alot of time wandering around the city and I really like it. Yesterday I went on a walking tour to the town of La Boca, which is known for it's mad football culture and brightly coloured houses, mainly on El Caminito - it's most famous street. La Boca is a relatively dangerous place to visit, as it is very poor, and people regularly get mugged around there. Funnily enough though, a guy staying at the hostel got robbed at knife point on Avenida Florida - a really popular shopping street in the heart of the city...in broad daylight with people walking past! La Boca is really bright and colourful, not because the people wanted it this way, but because they had to use the leftover paint brought over from Europe. They couldn't afford to paint their houses. We then visted the Boca football stadium and museum and saw lots of Maradona paraphernalia, he would be Boca's most famous player. After a bit of lunch in Boca we headed back to the hostel on the bus and had a nap before heading back out for the night. In Argentina it is the norm to eat your dinner around 10pm and not head out until around 2am, the clubs dont even open until then alot of the time!
There are a couple of irish blokes and english girls in my dorm, so they have certainly taught me a thing or two about drinking. It's true when they say no one can drink like the irish. Tomorrow, I am going to watch a live football game, I'm really looking forward to it, the atmosphere looks electric!
