Heyyy,
So the adventure has begun...starting at Terminal 3 where we had an amazing send off. Emotions were high, as were the nerves but the excitement blew it all away! Our first two flights landing firstly at Madrid and then onto Lima were very plain sailing and we all managed to sleep for at least six hours...and just seemed to go very fast! So we began flying over Peru and the views were amazing of the Andes, we also saw The Amazon trailing through the jungle!...I did try take a picture but it just doesn't describe how picturesque it was.
We had a few problems trying to find our cab...but we found him eventually and the drive to the hostal was extremely cultural...we drove through some very poor areas, but it made it very real...we listened to Peruvian music and enjoyed the heat!
We reached our first hostel which was really nice, friendly and clean! We explored our district which is Milaflores...went to the beach...although this may have not been our best idea as we all received a lovely gift from the sea erchins left in our foot which was extremely painful! The beach was quite stoney...so needless to say we all went in but I dont think it is an experience we will do again! We walked to the centre of Milaflora enjoying the shops and culture and found a very nice Restaurant for lunch....Lima is not what I thought at all it is very similar to Spain with the people and the general atmosphere! The weather so far has been very hot and in the evening we chilled and ate at the hostel and made some friends with our hostel pals and had some drinks with them...two Chilians...an Australian and a Canadian and it was nice to hear others stories and adventures!
Needless to say our plans have now changed slightly and we have now changed our minds instead of going to Nazca next we are going to a place called Wakachina which has the highest sand dunes so we can go sand boarding and dune bashing I think its called!!
So today we are planning to hire bikes and cycle along the coast to a little bohemian city which is about an hour ride away....so will probably take us two hours! We are also going to a flea market this evening and have found a nice Restaurant called Norkys which looks amazing!!
Tomorrow we are planning on going to Wakachina which you can see an image of on this blog...of the lagoon in the middle of the town! However, weare slightly unsure we are going to make it yet as the buses are currently on strike! Just our luck so we can't get anywhere!! But tomorrows another day...
Hope alls well...having a great time already and missing you all lots!
Love
Georgia
