Florence.....the city gave that small vibe but it was bigger than I thought it would be. It took such a long time to get to the hostel because I got lost and then I had to climb up 76 flights of stairs with my backpack after having just been in Venice/Pooped on. When I got to the top the man working there informed me that they did not accept credit cards.....so I payed with cash. I took a long shower (the rule said no more than 10 minutes but I think my shower was longer) and then met an Aussie named Carly. We became good friends right from the start. We decided to hang out and see the Gallerie de Accademia together since she had been looking for the statue of David as well. She told me that she found 2 other statues of David and was very upset she had yet to find the original. I informed her that I had went to the wrong city to find the david so we were in the same boat.
The first stop was the food market, we decided to cook dinner together so we bought all the ingredients at this food market. It cost us each 12 euro but the meal was for lunch and dinner. I bought this amazing basalamic vinegar sauce for our salad. The sales woman said you can put it on anything and it will taste good. It was so good I came back the next day to buy more so I can take it with me back (hopefully customs wont mind).
Then we spent like an hour or two waiting to go to the museum to see the statue of david. It took so long just to see it and this was the first time I really had to deal with a ton of tourist. I mean it seemed like the entire time I have been in Italy it has been hot and actually felt like summer. I eat gelaties here daily because it is so hot. The heat got to us so we went to go cook dinner and relax until we had to watch the sunset at Michaelengo plaza. We ended up inviting out some Americans to go with us and drink some wine while watching the sunset over florence. It was beautiful and relaxing.
The next day I went to the Gallerie of Uffizzi which had a few paintings by Da Vinci and we go to see one of his last paintings. It was pretty cool. Then shopping. In florence there are many flea markets on the street so we went through and bought a scarf. I know scarf in the middle of summer was not the best idea, but I think it was beautiful. At night, we decided to get another bottle of wine for €1.10 but when we got back to the hostel we were told it was cooking wine. We laughed so hard because the italians probably thought we were idiots.
After another home cooked meal (which at this point is amazing compared to the random mcdonalds I have), we went out for a night on the town. It was one Brit, one Aussie, one italian, and a ton of Americans. I had a blast and then wine was so good that I really didnt need to buy any drinks.
The next stop was Pisa. I took a day trip and looked at the lovely tower. The truth is that tower is still leaning. There was not much to do in Pisa, so I went directly to Rome.
