George's World Travels
G,day. Last week me and George did our Whitsundays trip. unfortunately i cannot say it was a total success!! On average there are only five days of rain in July every year and we caught it all. it was particularly bad for G because she felt too sea sick to go downstairs into the cabin, but up on deck it was always really windy and cold. it was a no win.
When we went to Whitehaven Beach (a VERY beautiful beach, even in s***e weather) the heavens opened even more and it actually began to hurt!! But then we had to wait ages for the boat to come and pick us up!!!
The other tragic aspect of the trip was the people on it!! i kid you not, there was only ONE other British person, there were 11 others who were all Dutch or German and spoke in their own languages for most of it. G was not impressed by this. There was a crazy Dutch girl though who was midly interesting. Supposedly since shes been travelling shes slept with 17 guys, and that includes Ivan, who was a member of the crew on our boat, Dreamcatcher.
All in all, it was a worthwhile trip purely for seeing two beautiful whales before the season had even begun. Its moments like that, that make all the travelling, and all the stress worthwhile. It was an awesome moment.
To be fair the snorkelling was very enjoyable as well, although scary with all the stingers about. I think me and G were both happy to get back on dry land. her because of sea sickness, me because i wanted some comfort!! those beds did my back no good at all!!!
